Instructions For Referees
Thanks for your sincere efforts and expertise in the article reviews, without which it is impossible to maintain the high standards of peer-reviewed journals. Peer Review provides two major functions: (1) it serves as a filter which verifies the research before it published and (2) it improves the quality of the research through the scrupulous review done by other experts in raising the key points in a research work.
All correspondence by Asian Journal of Agriculture and Rural Development with referees is through e-mail and as such, it is requested that you submit your report via e-mail to the editor who contacted you. The review report can be in the body of an e-mail text, as well as an attachment. On the completion of ten article reviews, the AJARD will publish one article of the reviewer free of charge.
The Editor who has contacted you may only be aware of your work in a broader circumstance. Thus, you can accept an invitation if you have the expertise in that particular area.
There is no disputing the fact that reviewing an article is time consuming. Thus, if you have sufficient time before the deadline specified in the invitation for review, then accept the invitation otherwise inform the editor immediately.
If you have any relationship with the author probably as colleagues in the same department/institute or you have previously worked on a paper with the author or you have a professional/financial connection to the article, then you have to specify all these when responding to the editor`s invitation for review.
Reviewing needs to be conducted confidentially. In other words, the article you have been asked to review should not be disclosed to a third party. Although the editors are open to additional comments, nevertheless you need to keep the review process confidential even if a third party is involved.
You should not attempt to contact the author.
The review report should contain the key elements of your review, addressing the points outlined in the preceding section. Commentary should be considerate and constructive, and should not include any personal remarks or personal details including your name.
Your report should include one of the following recommendations:
?accept in its current form without any revisions
?acceptance contingent on some revisions
?reject with an invitation to revise and resubmit
?reject with no invitation to resubmit
Your recommendation should be justified by an analysis of the essay that describes its strengths and weaknesses and includes whatever comments or suggestions you believe would be helpful to the author. In most cases, the report itself will be sent to the author just as you provide it.
